Kevin Coyne | Artist
Kevin Coyne was an English musician, singer, composer, film-maker, and writer born 1944 in Derby, England UK. Coyne's idiosyncratic style fused blues guitar with intense vocal delivery. Often his material focussed on the injustice facing the mentally ill, a subject he was personally familiar with. Coyne was admired and championed by the influential DJ John Peel, who signed Coyne to his record label Dandelion. Coyne formed the band Siren in 1969 with members Dave Clague and John Chichester, and they recorded one excellent self-titled album. He also collaborated with Dagmar Krause, from Slapp Happy and Henry Cow, and they recorded the album Babble. Coyne's first three solo albums: Case History (1972), Marjory Razorblade (1973) and Blame it on the Night (1974), recorded between 1972-74 are all excellent. Other outstanding albums include Dynamite Daze (1978) and the live In Living Black and White (1976).
