Rush was a Canadian rock band formed 1968 in Willowdale, Toronto. The lineup was Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. The band initially played blues-rock but became more Prog over time, characterised by complex compositions, increased use of synthesisers and lyrics based on science fiction themes. The band polarised audiences, who either loved or hated them. Between 1976-1984 they released seven excellent albums in a row: 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals and Grace Under Pressure.
