Barrington Ainsworth Levy is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist born 1964 in Clarendon, Jamaica. Levy established a strong following in the Kingston dancehalls at 14 years of age in the late '70s. In 1979 he released his excellent debut album Bounty Hunter, as well as three other excellent albums in the same year, coming from studio work with producers Hyman Wright and Henry "Junjo" Lawes". His albums and singles became hits in Jamaica and the UK, establishing the Dancehall style of reggae. Levy has one of the finest voices in reggae and has gone on to release 28 studio albums and collaborations with artists such as Frankie Paul, Snoop Dogg and Handsome Boy Modelling School. Outstanding albums include Bounty Hunter, Englishman, Shine Eye Gal, Robin Hood, Poor Man Style and Barrington Levy In Dub: The Lost Mixes From King Tubby's Studio. His 2015 album Acousticalevy was nominated for a Grammy Award for best reggae album.
