Boston Spaceships was an American rock band formed 2008 in Dayton, Ohio by Robert Pollard and Chris Slusarenko of Guided By Voices, and John Moen of The Decemberists and Perhapst. The name of the band came from a nickname Pollard gave to the Boston cream donut from Krispy Kreme, which is Pollard's favourite doughnut. Over the period 2008-2011, during a hiatus in GBV's activity and Pollard's solo work, the band released five consistently good studio albums and one live album, all chock full of catchy guitar based psych-tinged indie rock goodness. Outstanding albums are: Brown Submarine, The Planets are Blasted, Zero to 99, Our Clubhouse Still Rocks, Let it Beard and Licking Stamps & Drinking Shitty Coffee (live).
