Built to Spill is an American indie rock band formed 1992 in Boise, Idaho, by bandleader Doug Martsch (guitar, vocals). Original bass/drums combo Brett Netson and Raff Youtz were replaced by Brett Nelson and Andy Capps in 1994, then by Jason Albertini and Steve Gere in 2012. The band's sound blends guitar-driven slowcore rock with melodic hooks. Their debut album Ultimate Alternative Wavers (1993) was only warmly received but was followed by three superb albums: There's Nothing Wrong With Love ('94), Perfect From Now On ('97) and Keep it Like a Secret ('99) which solidified Doug Martsch's reputation and the band's standing as one of America's leading Indie outfits alongside the likes of Pavement and Yo Le Tengo. Other standout albums include You in Reverse and Live.
