CocoRosie is an American musical group formed 2003 in Paris, France, by sisters Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie" Casady. The sisters were born and raised in the United States, but formed the band in Paris after reconnecting after years of separation. Their music has been described as "freak folk", incorporating elements of pop, opera, electronica and hip hop. Sierra sings, plays guitar, piano and harp, and Bianca sings and manipulates various children's toys, electronics, percussion instruments, wind Instruments, as well as other exotic noisemakers. They add various backing musicians, such as bassist, keyboardist, and beatboxer. Their whimsical faux-naif style tends to polarise listener opinion. Outstanding albums include La maison de mon rêve, Noah's Ark, The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn, Grey Oceans and Tales of a GrassWidow.
