Lonnie Corant Jaman Shuka Rashid Lynn aka Common, is an American rapper, actor, writer, and philanthropist born 1972 in Chicago. Common has released 15 studio albums and is one of the USA's most successful Rap artists. He won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for the Erykah Badu penned single "Love of my Life", and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2006 Grammy Awards for his album Be. In pictures Common won the 2015 Golden Globe Award and Academy Award both for Best Original Song for his song "Glory" from the 2014 film "Selma". His first two albums were released under the name Common Sense. Outstanding Common albums include Resurrection, One Day It'll All Make Sense, Like Water for Chocolate and Be. Outside his music, film and literary work, Common is the founder of the Common Ground Foundation, a non-profit that seeks to empower underprivileged youth to be strong citizens and citizens of the world.
