Destroyer is a Canadian rock band formed 1995 in Vancouver, British Columbia, by singer-songwriter Dan Bejar, who is also a member of Canadian band The New Pornographers. Initially a solo project, Bejar later recruited additional core members Scott Morgan (multi-instruments) and John Collins (bass, Keyboards, production). Destroyer songs are characterised by abstract, poetic lyrics and idiosyncratic vocals, and the sound varies markedly from album to album. The band's 11th album Poison Season was recorded using a string section, giving the sound a grand cinematic quality. Bejar has said of the album "This is the first record that I've done that comes close to my idea of myself as a singer". To-date the band has released 12 studio albums, standouts include Streethawk: A Seduction, Your Blues, Destroyer's Rubies, Kaputt and Poison Season.
