Download is a Canadian electronic music group formed 1994 in Vancouver, BC, by Dwayne Goettel and CEvin Key, formerly of Skinny Puppy. The initial lineup also included Phil Western and Mark Spybey, but following Goettel's death, Key and Western have been the core band members. The band's style is post-industrial, drawing from their Skinny Puppy roots and influences from such artists as Aphex Twin and Autechre. Their sound is created using synthesisers and sampled instruments with strong percussive and rhythmic elements. Their early work featured vocals by Mark Spybey and guest vocals by Genesis P. Orridge from Throbbing Gristle. Their later work is entirely instrumental and has become stylistically more ambient. They have released 11 studio albums, standouts include Furnace, The Eyes of Stanley Pain, III Steps Forward and Fixer.
