Flamin' Groovies is an American garage rock music band founded 1965 in San Francisco, by guitar/vocalists Roy Loney and Cyril Jordan. After the Groovies released three albums, Loney left the band in 1971. He was replaced as co-leader by Chris Wilson, and the band's emphasis shifted more toward British Invasion power pop. Their 1976 album Shake Some Action, produced by Dave Edmunds and recorded at his Rockfield Studios in the UK, is regarded by many as the Groovies' best work, with great power-pop riffs and a distinct '60s garage sound. Other outstanding albums include Supersnazz, Flamingo, Teenage Head and Now. Roy Loney has released some fine albums with his band, The Phantom Movers, and Cyril Jordon released the excellent Evolver with side project Magic Christian.
