Homelife is and English Nu-Jazz collective formed 1998 in Manchester by bandleader and multi-instrumentalist Paddy Steer. The lineup changes regularly around the core group of Steer (bass, glockenspiel, banjo, keyboards, programming, synthesizer, zither, bass harmonica, pedal steel guitar, computer), Anthony Burnside (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Simon King (guitar, percussion), Rosie Lowdell (violin) and Semay Wu (cello). Other players include Seaming To (vocals), Graham Massey (clarinet, shehnai, alto saxophone, synthesizer, electric piano, computer), Richard Harrison (percussion, drums), Faron Brooks (vocals), Icarus Wilson Wright (percussion), James Ford (drums), Bob Dinn (trumpet), Howard Jacobs (drums, percussion, timbales, bass clarinet), Jason Self (drums), Justin Lingard (viola), Matt Batty (violin), Pat Illingworth (drums) and Steve Chadwick (composer). Most of the members also work as soloists, and Graham Massey continues to be one of the founding members of 808 State. One reviewer described the band's music has been described as "a stylish medley of everything: jazzy dubs, neo-psychedelic musings, electronic nocturnes, bebop improvisations and all these avant-progressive harmonies". To-date they have released six studio albums, standouts include Homelife, Cho Cho, Flying Wonders, Guru Man Hubcap Lady and Exotic Interlude.
