Howard Leslie Shore OC is a Canadian composer born 1946 in Toronto. Early in his career he was saxophonist for the Pop-Jazz band Lighthouse, then moved on to be one of the world's most successful composers of film scores, most notably the scores for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies. To-date he has over fifty soundtrack album releases. Outstanding albums include The Fly, Naked Lunch, Ed Wood and The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy. Shore has won three Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and four Grammy Awards. Early in his career Shore was the original musical director for the American sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980.
