Lady Gaga | Artist
Stefani Germanotta aka Lady Gaga is an American musician, performer, songwriter and actress, born 1986 in Manhattan, New York. One of the current day's most prominent figures in the music industry, Gaga spent the 2000’s working her way into the industry via several bands and songwriting credits. It wasn’t until music mogul Jimmy Iovine signed her to Interscope records, after she was dropped from Def Jam several months earlier, that her career took off. The 2007 debut album The Fame kicked things off with the hits "Just Dance" and "Pokerface". The album was re-released in 2008 as The Fame Monster with additional tracks. After her international breakthrough, Gaga made it her style to continuously adapt her signature sound for each new release. For 2011’s, Born This Way, she adopted a heavy industrial style reminiscent of early Nine Inch Nails, whilst 2020’s Chromatica revisits the dance-pop renaissance seen in the 2010s. For a mainstream pop figure with record label backing, she has been consistently challenging in regards to her politics, music and image. Beyond her studio work, Gaga is known for her burlesque infused performances that consistently sell out arenas. Working in film she starred in the smash remake of ‘A Star is Born’, where her performance was hailed by critics. She also has a continued interest in philanthropy, funding several LGBTQI and Human Rights Advocacy and support programs, plus she has her own line of vegan lipsticks. Lady Gaga exists simultaneously in the realms of the corporate business world and the arts world, while maintaining her creativity and artistic authenticity. Standout albums include The Fame Monster, Born This Way, Joanne, A Star is Born Soundtrack and her most recent release, Chromatica.
