Leo Kottke is an American acoustic guitar virtuoso and singer born 1945 in Athens, Georgia. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. He was influenced by folk and delta blues music, in particular the music of Mississippi John Hurt. Kottke has worked and recorded as a duo with Mike Gordon of Phish. Outstanding albums include the classic 6 & 12 String Guitar, Leo Kottke / Peter Lang / John Fahey, Dreams and all That Stuff and My Feet are Smiling.
