Guitarist Kirk Hammett joined in 1983 and bassist Robert Trujilo in 2003. Original guitarist Dave Mustaine left to form Megadeth. Metallica is one of the most popular and commercially successful metal bands in history. Standout albums include Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justice For All.
