Oysterband is a British folk rock and folk punk band formed 1976 in Canterbury UK by Ian Telfer (fiddle, concertina), Alan Prosser (guitar, vocals), Chopper (cello, bass, vocals), Lee (drums, vocals), John Jones (lead vocals, accordion) and Ian Kearey (guitar). The band collaborates with leading UK folk songstress June Tabor. Originally a folk dance band, In the nineties the band adopted a more overtly political stance and folk-rock style. Today, with 22 albums to their credit, they are one of the UK's leading celtic-rock outfits. The albums Trawler, The Shouting End of Life, Meet You There and The Oxford Girl and Other Stories, are all superb. Other standout albums include Holy Bandits, Deep Dark Ocean, The Big Session Volume 1 and Alive and Acoustic live album.
