He was a gifted songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist and established his own studio and record label Paisley Park. The 1984 film Purple Rain was loosely based on Prince's early life. His peak recording years were between 1980-87 when he released six superb albums: Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain, Around The World in a Day, Parade and Sign of the Times.
