Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band, formed 1991 in Oslo. The band was originally founded by bassist Wargod and drummer Exhurtum, who were joined by Satyr, Lemarchand and Frost. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's style is Norwegian black metal mixed with traditional heavy metal. They were the first Norwegian Black Metal band to be signed to a global record label, EMI. Outstanding albums include Dark Medieval Times, The Shadowthrone and Nemesis Divina.
