Sinikka Langeland is a Norwegian traditional folk singer and musician born 1961 in Grue, Norway. She is known for combining traditional Nordic folk music with poetry and ECM style "atmospheric" jazz. Langeland plays the Finnish National Instrument the kantele, which is a form of zither. Her angelic voice and ancient woodland folk themes give her music an ethereal quality. She records and performs with an ensemble of leading Nordic jazz and folk musicians. Langeland is signed to the ECM label and has, to-date, released 12 studio albums. Standouts include Har du lyttet til elvene om natta?, Maria's Song, The Half-Finished Heaven and The Magical Forest.
