The Fall was an English post-punk band formed in 1976 in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. The changing lineup centred on Mark E. Smith, the singer, multi-instrumentalist and frontman, who died in 2018. Initially a Punk band, they developed musically and lyrically to become one of the most influential Indie/Post-Punk bands of their era. Their first nine studio albums released between 1979-1986 are all classics. Outstanding albums include Live at the Witch Trials, Grotesque (After the Gramme), Hex Induction Hour, Perverted by Language and This Nation's Saving Grace. Also highly recommended are the compilations 458489 A-Sides and 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong: 39 Golden Greats.
