The Jazz Passengers is an American jazz ensemble founded 1987 in New York City by saxophonist Roy Nathanson and trombonist Curtis Fowlkes. The band grew out of a partnership between Nathanson (sax) and Fowlkes (Trombone) in after the two played with John Lurie's band The Lounge Lizards. Other occasional members of the band include Marc Ribot (guitar), Bill Ware (vibraphone), Brad Jones (bass), Jim Nolet (violin) and Sam Bardfeld (violin). Also Deborah Harry, from Blondie, often performs with the band, and Elvis Costello has also featured. Outstanding albums include Broken Night Red Light, Plain Old Joe, Individually Twisted, Live in Spain, and the Hall Willner produced album In Love.
