Many fans and critics alike regard The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society as the greatest Kinks album of all. Recorded between 1966-1968 and released in October '68, in many ways this albums is the Kinks' response to the raft of great UK concept albums around that time - The Beatles Sgt Peppers, The Small Faces Ogdens, The Stones Satanic Majesties, The Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow, The Zombies Odessey and Oracle, The Who Tommy, and The Kinks Village Green. You can't single out individual tracks because they're all part of the brilliant narrative flow that makes up this timeless pop-rock masterpiece.
