John Townes Van Zandt was an American singer-songwriter born 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. He played country folk/blues and was known for his engaging story-telling and songwriting skills. In his lifetime Van Zandt was greatly respected by other musicians but largely ignored by the public. Between 1968-1978 he released seven classic albums in a row. Outstanding albums include Our Mother The Mountain, Townes Van Zandt, Delta Momma Blues, The Late Great Townes Van Zandt and Live at The Old Quarter Houston Texas.
