White Denim is an American rock band formed 2006 in Austin, Texas, by James Petralli (vocals, guitar), Steve Terebecki (vocals, bass) and Joshua Block (drums). The present day lineup sees the addition guitarist Jonathan Horne, multi-instrumentalist Michael St Clair, and Jeffrey Olson on drums. Their music is influenced by dub, psychedelic rock, blues, punk rock, progressive rock, soul, jazz, experimental rock with home-based recording, jamming approach, intense looping work and unusual song structures. After releasing several promising EPs the band received the award for "Best New Band" at the 2008 Austin Music Awards. That same year they released a debut album, Workout Holiday, which consists of re-recorded songs from the band's first two self-released EPs along with some new tracks. Their next album Explosion from late 2008 sold during their Spring 2008 tour as a CD-R and was made available in digital format from their website. Upon signing with Universal imprint Downtown Records, the band released their third album Fits which was also packaged with Exposion as a bonus disc, giving both LPs a proper US release. They have gone on to release 10 studio albums to-date. Standout releases include Workout Holiday, Fits, Corsicana Lemonade, D, Performance, and the 2019 live album, In Person. White Denim frontman James Petralli also releases solo works under the aliases Bop English and Constant Bop.
