The Beach Boys is an American rock band formed 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The original lineup was brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine. Starting off as a surf-pop band, their sound evolved to incorporate progressive pop and psychedelic influences, underpinned by excellent song-craft, vocal harmonies and innovative studio production. Their masterpiece is Pet Sounds from 1966. Other standout albums include The Beach Boys Today!, Sunflower and Surf's Up.
