The Specials | Artist

The Specials was an English 2 Tone and ska band formed 1977 in Coventry by Jerry Dammers, Terry Hall, Neville Staples, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Horace Panter, Dick Cuthell and Rico Rodriguez. The band had Seven consecutive top-Ten UK Singles between 1979-1981, at the height of the Ska revival era. They also released their classic first album Specials in 1979. Hall, Staples and Golding left the band to form Fun Boy Three and Jerry Dammers went on to form 2-Tone Records and pursue anti-Racism causes. Outstanding albums include Specials, More Specials and King of Ska, the latter with Desmond Dekker.
