The Tubes are an American art-rock band formed 1972 in San Francisco, California. The core lineup was Fee Waybill, Roger Steen, Bill Spooner, Vince Welnick, Michael Cotten and Re Styles. They played a mix of Glam-Rock, New Wave and Art-Rock, and created outlandish stage shows which gained popularity in the early days of MTV. Their 1975 debut album included the single "White Punks on Dope". Outstanding albums include The Tubes, Remote Control and The Completion Backward Principle.
