Tobin Sprout is an American artist and musician born 1955 in Dayton, Ohio. He is best known as being the secondary major writer and member of indie rock group Guided by Voice and also works as a solo musician and performer of Indie rock music laden with pop hooks and psych influences. Sprout is also a gifted visual artist, having created the album art for his own releases as well as several of the GBV album covers. His first two albums Carnival Boy and Moonflower Plastic (Welcome to My Wigwam) are excellent. Other outstanding releases include Lost Planets and Phantom Voices from 2003, and Live at a the Horseshoe Tavern.
