Close Lobsters | Artist
Close Lobsters are a UK indie band formed 1984 in Paisley, Scotland, by Andrew Burnett (vocals), Graeme Wilmington (guitar), Tom Donnelly (guitar), Bob Burnett (bass) and Stewart McFadyen (drums). Close Lobsters first came to wider prominence with their track "Firestation Towers" on the iconic C86 cassette compilation of indie music, issued by UK magazine NME in 1986. Signed to Fire Records, they issued several singles before the release of their excellent debut album Foxheads Stalk This Land. Rolling Stone magazine gave the album a glowing review, calling it "first-rate guitar pop from a top-shelf band. Close Lobsters could have been just another jangle group, but they have a lot more going for them than just chiming Rickenbackers". The band released several strong EP's and a second album in 1989 before going quiet for several decades, only reforming occasionally for selected festivals. Thirty One years later they released their third studio album Post Neo Anti, in February 2020, with the original lineup. Standout releases include Foxheads Stalk This Land, What is There to Smile About (EP), Post Neo Anti, and the excellent 2009 compilation Forever, Until Victory! The Singles Collection. The band's single "Just Too Bloody Stupid" was included on Castle Music's 2006 indie retrospective CD86.
