Wings was an English rock band formed 1971 in London by bandleader and former Beatle Paul McCartney. After recording two solo albums, McCartney wanted a permanent band and brought together his wife Linda on keyboards, ex-Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine, drummer Denny Seiwell, and guitarist Henry McCullough who was formerly with Joe Cocker and the Grease Band. Their debut album Wild Life was rushed out in late 1971 and was not well received by critics or the public. Red Rose Speedway released in '73 was a slightly better set containing the hit "My Love". In the same recording sessions, but not contained on the album, Wings laid down the James Bond theme song "Live and Let Die" which was produced by George Martin. McCullough and Seiwell left the band at that stage and, as a trio, Wings carried on to record their classic album Band on the Run. Jimmy McCullough, formerly of Thunderclap Newman, was brought on as second guitarist and the group went back to the studio in '75 to record the excellent Venus and Mars album, which also featured Dave Mason (Traffic) on guitar and star sax man Tom Scott. Wings went on to record three more studio albums and one live album before disbanding in 1981. Standout albums include Band on the Run, Venus and Mars and the live Wings Over America.
