Duster is an American rock band formed 1996 in San Jose, California, by multi-instrumentalists Clay Parton, Canaan Dove Amber, and Jason Albertini. Members of the band previously performed together in the group Mohinder, as well as releasing three albums under the name Valium Aggelein. Parton also has a side project Eiafuawn and plays drums and tours with punk band El Buzzard. Albertini has his own band Helvetia that has releases on Parton's record label The Static Cult Label. Parton and Amber also run the Low Earth Orbit recording studio. The group's sound has been also associated with the space rock and slowcore movements. To produce their lo-fi sound, the band typically records on cheap and older recording equipment, such as cassette decks. To-date they have released three excellent studio albums: Stratosphere (1998), Contemporary Movement (2000) and Duster (2019). Their 2019 compilation album Capsule Losing Contact is also highly recommended. Also the 1998 Valium Aggelein album Hier Kommt der Schwartze Mond is excellent.
