Art Ensemble of Chicago is an avant-garde jazz group formed 1966 in Chicago by Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie and Malachi Favors. They expanded membership in the following years and their moto is "Great black music: ancient to the future". They played on Brigitte Fontaine's masterpiece Comme à la radio and released other fine albums including Les stances à Sophie and Urban Bushmen.
