Whatever you want to call it, Yves Tumour has delivered another visionary set of songs to establish them as a high-fashion heavy hitter.
We’ve already covered them before, and our adoration is no secret (that alongside fellow admirers Nine Inch Nails), and it’s with this one that it only grows. Strangely enough, ‘Echolalia’ is what broke Yves through to a new demographic as it did the rounds on social media. We wouldn’t have picked this, but are immensely impressed that a song as good as it can draw a new crowd to a criminally under-appreciated artist. But that is only a slice of the sonic cornucopia that’s on offer here. Just hear ‘Operator’ or ‘Meteora Blues’ for more stellar driving pieces that show the range on display.
The comparisons to Prince and Bowie are warranted due to the sonic and visual diversity and range of material on display. Having now been active for nearly 15 years, Yves only continues to yield massive artistic potential that pays dividends with every release. This is no exception, and adds to the set of gems in their discography alongside ‘Heaven to a Tortured Mind’ and ‘Safe in the Hands of Love’. A true visionary.
