The 5.6.7.8's are a Japanese all-girl Rockabilly band from Tokyo formed in 1965 by sisters Yoshiko "Ronnie" Fujiyama (guitar, vocals) and Sachiko Fujiyama (drums), plus Akiko Omo (bass). They play Rockabilly-Garage Punk revival covers of American rock and roll records from the 1950s to the 1980s, sung in Japanese. They became known outside of Japan after their appearance in Quentin Tarantino's movie Kill Bill Vol.1, in which they performed the songs "I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield", "I'm Blue" and "Woo Hoo" in a Tokyo club. The song "Woo Hoo" made it to 28 on the UK Singles Chart, and has been used in TV advertisements for Carling lager. Another of their songs "The Barracuda" is featured in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift soundtrack. The 5.6.7.8's have toured in numerous countries including China, Australia, the United States, and their native Japan. They have released four studio albums, standouts include Can't Help It! (1991), The 5.6.7.8's (1994) and Teenage Mojo Workout (2002). Also recommended is the excellent 1991 EP I Was a Teenage cavewoman!!! The 5.6.7.8's also cover the Monk's song "Cuckoo" on the 2006 compilation Silver Monk Time: A Tribute to The Monks.
