Bonnie Lynn Raitt is an American blues singer, guitarist, songwriter, and activist born 1949 in Burbank, California. Raitt began playing blues and bottleneck slide guitar from an early age and was influenced by the music of Mississippi Fred McDowell. She gained attention for her live performances and was signed by Warners Records. During the 1970s, Raitt released a series of critically acclaimed roots-influenced albums that incorporated elements of blues, rock, folk and country. She finally scored a major commercial success with her 10th studio album Nick of Time (1989) which went to the top of the US charts and won a Grammy Award. Outstanding albums include Bonnie Raitt, Give it Up, Takin' my Time and Luck of the Draw.
