British Electric Foundation | Artist
British Electric Foundation was a band/production company formed 1980 in London by former Human League members Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh. B.E.F. was eventually subsumed by its best known project, Heaven 17. Ware and Marsh's first release as B.E.F. in 1980, was a collection of instrumentals entitled Music For Stowaways, initially available only on cassette. It was inspired by the appearance of the first Sony Walkman, which was originally marketed as the Sony Stowaway. B.E.F.'s spare production style was mainly synthesisers and LinnDrums with vocals overlaid. Outstanding albums include Music For Stowaways, Music for Listening To and Music of Quality and Distinction Volume 3.
