The James Gang was an American rock band formed 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, by initial lineup Glenn Schwartz (guitar), Tom Kriss (bass, vocals) and Jim Fox (drums, vocals). Joe Walsh came in on guitar in 1967, replacing Schwartz who joined LA based Blues-rock outfit Pacific Gas & Electric. This power trio format recorded their debut Yer' Album in '69, following which Dale Peters replaced Kriss, and Domenic Troiano (guitar, vocals) replaced Joe Walsh who went solo before joining the Eagles in 1976. The band's sound was a funky boogie style of blues-rock, featuring Joe Walsh's superlative guitar playing. In the studio, the band released 9 albums, highlighted by their excellent second album Rides Again from 1970. Standout albums include Yer' Album, Rides Again, Bang and Live in Concert. The band had two hit songs, "Funk #49" and "Walk Away", which continue to be played on classic rock and AOR radio. In 1969 the band appeared in the George Englund movie "Zachariah" which also included two James Gang songs, "Laguna Salada" and "Country Fever", in the soundtrack. Various incarnations of the band continued performing up until 1976. The classic lineup of Walsh, Peters and Fox first reunited in July 1991 at Nautica Pavillion in Cleveland when Fox and Peters took to the stage during a Walsh concert to play three songs. The trio then gathered together again to perform at an election rally for President Bill Clinton at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center on November 4, 1996.
