Kim Lenz is an American rockabilly singer and guitarist, born 1966 in San Diego, California. Before focussing on a solo career, Lenz worked with her band, Kim Lenz and the Jaguars, which featured guitarist Nick Curran, who also recorded several excellent solo albums and was formerly guitarist/vocalist with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Lenz's rootsy, swaggering sound, which evokes the twangy heritage of classic 1950s performers like Wanda Jackson and Janis Martin, has led to her being dubbed "The Queen" of traditional rockabilly music. With The Jaguars she released four studio albums, including standouts Kim Lenz and Her Jaguars, The One and Only and It's All True! In 2019 she released the excellent solo album entitled Slowly Speeding. Out of interest, Lenz has a degree majoring in psychology, and her mother was once a rodeo rider.
