Nevermore was an American heavy metal band formed 1991 in Seattle, Washington, by Warrel Dane (vocals), Jim Sheppard (bass), Jeff Loomis (guitar) and Van Williams (drums). They incorporated elements from various styles such as progressive metal, power metal, modern hard rock, classic heavy metal, and thrash metal. Formerly in the band Sanctuary, Dane and Sheppard split to form their own band Nevermore when their record company pressured them to change their musical style from heavy metal to grunge, which was obtaining mainstream success at the time due to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Outstanding Nevermore albums include The Politics of Ecstasy, Dreaming Neon Black, Dead Heart in a Dead World and This Godless Endeavor and The Year of the Voyager.
