Procol Harum is an English rock band formed 1967 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The original lineup was Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, Robin Trower, B.J. Wilson and lyricist Keith Reid. Guitar supremo Trower left the band in '71 to pursue a successful solo career and was replaced by Mick Grabham from Cochise. The band will always be remembered for the 1967 hit single "A Whiter Shade of Pale" taken from their masterpiece debut album Procol Harum. The Band's sound was a blend of progressive and heavy rock with classical influences and poetic lyrics. Outstanding albums include Procol Harum, Shine on Brightly, A Salty Dog, Grand Hotel and Live in Concert With the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
