Robert Plant | Artist
Robert Anthony Plant CBE is an English singer, songwriter, and musician born 1948 in West Bromwich, UK. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band Led Zeppelin, and is regarded as one of the greatest vocalists in the history of rock music. Plant left home at 16 and played in various blues bands, doing labouring and other menial work to survive. He met drummer John Bonham and they both played in Plant's first serious group Band of Joy along with Dave Pegg, who would end up in Fairport Convention. Jimmy Page formed Led Zeppelin in 1968 bringing together Plant, Bonham and John Paul Jones, and they went on to rock mega-stardom. Plant released his debut solo album Pictures at Eleven in 1982, the same year Zeppelin folded. He has gone on to release over a dozen solo albums and collaborations with Jimmy Page and Alison Krauss. Outstanding albums include The Principle of Moments, Now and Zen, Fate of Nations, Dreamland, Mighty ReArranger, Band of Joy, Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar and Carry Fire.
