Slim Cessna's Auto Club is an American band formed 1992 in Denver, Colorado by Slim Cessna (lead vocals, guitar, banjo, yodelling), Dwight Pentacost (guitar, electric banjo, vocals), Jay Munly (banjo, vocals, yodelling), Tim Maher (drums), Reverend Glasseye (vocals, pedal steel, Hammond organ), Rebecca Vera (Pedal Steel), plus various other musical acolytes. The band is known for it's blend of southern gothic alt-country stylings and lyrics which describe apocalyptic and religious imagery. The sole constant in this band is Slim Cessna. SCAC was born from the break-up of The Denver Gentlemen, a band that included both David Eugene Edwards, now fronting Wovenhand, and Jeffery-Paul Norlander of 16 Horesepower. The band also features Canadian Munly Jay Munly who releases work under his own name as well as with his bands Munly & The Lee Lewis Harlots, and Munly & The Luperclians, both bands comprising most of the same members as SCAC. In March 2015, the band created their own record label, SCAC Unincorporated, which is home to all recordings by SCAC, Denver Broncos UK, and Munly's side projects. Standout albums by SCAC include Always Say Please and Thank You (2000), The Bloudy Tenent Truth Peace (2004), Cipher (2008), and the live album Jesus Let Me Down (2005). Slim also has numerous live recording releases as a soloist. Outside band activities, Rebecca Vera is a practicing veterinary technician, and 'Lord' Dwight Pentacost is a licensed wedding minister. The name "Slim Cessna's Auto Club" originally came about as a tribute to Cessna's friend John who had a collection of old junky cars.
