Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 is an American experimental indie rock group formed 1986 in San Francisco, California, by Marl Davies (vocals, guitar, banjo, bass, french horn, keyboards), Brian Hageman (vocals, guitar, mandolin, tapes, viola) and Anne Eickelberg (vocals, bass, keyboards). Hugh Swarts (vocals, guitar) and Jay Paget (vocals, drums, percussion, keyboards) joined in 1987 and 1990 respectively. Their sound combines lo-fi noise-rock and ambient with tightly constructed rock and pop songs, and they have a small but intensely loyal cult following. They released two early albums on the small Thwart Productions label before being picked up by influential indie label Matador Records. To-date they have released eight studio albums and several excellent Singles and EPs. Standout albums include Wormed by Leonard, Mother of All Saints, Strangers From The Universe and Bob Dinners and Larry Noodles Present Tubby Turdner's Celebrity Avalanche. The EP Admonishing the Bishops (1993) and compilation TFUL282 (1995) are also highly regarded. The band hasn't released anything since 2001, but performed at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival May, 2011 curated by Animal Collective.
