Shane Patrick Lysaght MacGowan is an English-born Irish vocalist and recording artist born 1957 in Pembury, UK. He is best known as the lead singer and songwriter of Celtic punk band the Pogues who were active between 1982-2014 and released a string of excellent albums. Between Pogues duties, MacGowan was a member of The Popes and The Nipple Erectors (under the name Shane O'Hooligan), and has released solo material since 1992. He also collaborated with Kirsty MacColl, Nick Cave, Sinéad O'Connor and Steve Earle. Outstanding albums include The Snake and The Rare 'Oul Stuff, with The Popes, Bops Babes Booze & Bovver, with The Nipple Erectors, and the excellent Rakes Rats Pricks & Kicks anthology.
