Ernest Ranglin | Artist

Ernest Ranglin OD is a Jamaican jazz and reggae guitarist and composer born 1932 in Manchester Parish, Jamaica. Ranglin established his career while working as a session guitarist and music director for various Jamaican record labels including Studio One and Island Records. He has worked with most of the great reggae producers and artists, dating back to 1963 when Ranglin played guitar on and arranged "My Boy Lollipop" by Millie Small, which was Chis Blackwell's first hit for the Island records label. It was also Ernest Wranglin who played the calypso guitar on the very first James Bond movie soundtrack Dr. No from 1963, scored by Monty Norman and John Barry. He has released 24 solo albums, including stand-outs such as his 1964 debut Wranglin', Sounds & Power and Below the Bassline from 1996, and In Search of the Lost Riddim from 1998.
