Dick Hyman | Artist

Richard Hyman is an American jazz pianist and composer born 1927 in New York City. Over his career he has functioned as a pianist, organist, arranger, music director, electronic musician and composer. He was named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters fellow in 2017. Hyman was one of the first mainstream musicians to introduce the electronic Moog Synthesizer into compositions and recordings. As well as his pop orchestrations and exotica work, Hyman created many poular movie sountracks, particularly for director Woody Allen, including Zelig, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Hannah and her Sisters, Radio Days and Bullets Over Broadway. His track "The Minotaur" from the 1969 album The Electric Eclectics charted in the US top 40 becoming the first Moog hit single.
