Avey Tare | Artist

David Michael Portner aka Avey Tare is a musician and songwriter born 1979 in Baltimore, Maryland. He co-founded the American experimental pop band Animal Collective with Deacon, Panda Bear and Geologist. As well as working with Animal Collective, Tare works solo and has a project band Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks with Angel Deradoorian of Dirty Projectors, and Jeremy Hyman of Ponytail. He plays a blend of neo-psychedelic pop with experimental sound textures. Outstanding albums include the excellent Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished, Eucalyptus and Enter The Slasher House.
