Blur | Artist
Blur is an English rock band formed 1988 in London by singer/keyboardist Damon Albarn, guitarist/singer Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. The band became central to the "Britpop" music and culture movement, and achieved mass popularity in the UK, aided by a chart battle with rivals Oasis. The band's debut album Liesure didn't make any waves but the follow up Modern Life is Rubbish was more successful as it saw Blur focus more on their English pop heritage. The third release Parklife was their breakthrough album, propelled by the hit single "Girls & Boys". The band delivered three more excellent albums over the next five years, which established them as the premier Britpop band and launched Albarn, Coxon and James as future stars in their own right. Coxon left the band in 2002 and the trio carried on and released Think Tank in '03, which was a departure from their previous sound. They eventually reunited in 2015 to record their final album to-date The Magic Whip. Outstanding albums include Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife, Blur, 13 and Parklive.
