Cotton Mather is a power-pop group founded 1990 in Austin, Texas by Robert Harrison. Starting as an experimental collaboration with cellist Nat Shelton, by 1993 they evolved into a guitar driven pop quartet including Harrison, Whit Williams, Matt Hovis and Greg Thibeaux. Their second album Kontiki released in 1997 received much critical acclaim. Other outstanding albums include Cotton is King, The Big Picture and Death of the Cool.
