Michael Eugene Archer aka D'Angelo is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer born 1974 in Richmond, Virginia. D'Angelo is associated with the Neo soul movement and in 1995 became hugely popular with the release of his excellent first album Brown Sugar. Follow up albums Voodoo and Black Messiah are equally fine, as is the live album Live at the Jazz Cafe London.
